Comparative Perception of Undergraduate Medical and Dental Students between Case-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning in Karachi

Background: Teaching methodologies that govern self-directed learning skills include problem-based (PBL) and case-based (CBL). Both undergraduate graduate curriculum in Pakistan medical colleges frequently employ one or the other, depending on situation. The objective of our research was to contrast PBL CBL based perceptions students who had seen this change methodologies. Method: It a cross-sectional study conducted between March June 2022 at university Karachi. A closed ended self-administered questionnaire with fourteen questions prepared distributed 150 student. responses were dichotomous favor problem learning. Third second year MBBS BDS both genders, socioeconomic status included study. Student usefulness obtained 5-point Likert scale, results compared using chi square test. Result: In general, learners positive about all items PBL, such as learning, critical thinking, identifying objectives, knowledge gaps, improved problem-solving skills. Conclusion: Problem is preferred instructional strategy case base from perspective Keywords: Problem-based (PBL), Case-based (CBL), Medical students, Dental Perception.
